I have an old Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5000 real that was given to me. Currently my heaviest gear is medium action walleye gear. I have caught musky by accident but never actually targeted them. I am considering giving musky fishing a try. Numbers would soon run out, due to world wide popularity. the first to appear was the famous ABU Ambassadeur 5000 which has a number like 118158 which simply meant it was the 118thousand and 158th reel in the series. When ABU did start numbering, it was a serialized form. It had glossy black paint, a spare spool with plastic arbour adaptor to enable low torque casting of light lures, toolkit with spares, a black velvet bag to carry the reel out, and a leather box to hold the whole set together. Sometime in 1976, I had an Ambassadeur 5000 multiplier.
